BOOK INFO:
Writer: Joshua Crowther Artist: Bruno Chiroleu Colorist: Matteo Baldrighi Letterer: Chas! Pangburn Dialogue Editor: Steven Forbes
I picked up this comic at Wizard World Portland, not really sure what I was getting myself into, and found engaging characters, an interesting take on a familiar story, and gorgeous art inside. The comic is set in a parallel world to our own, with several real world events mentioned, and has a political undertone. The United States has stepped into another country's civil war once again and tensions are high. The story follows John Colbert, a former CEO of a major corporation working with the military, and Mark, a youth with powers who feels compelled to help the previously mentioned war torn country. We get to know these characters through flashbacks throughout the story which all culminates in a very powerful and moving scene in the final panels. From first image to last, a very deep and engaging story that sucks you in. I personally recommend everyone give this title a read, and experience the nuances and depth of the art, story and characters for themselves. Keep a look out for this awesome title.
